Hello my name is Rhonda Adams; I am a proud single mother of two (son and daughter) wonderful and beautiful children. Born in Hopkins, SC, but later moved to West Columbia after my parent's divorce in 1991. Alumnus of Brookland Cayce High, graduating in 1996. Attended the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology and became licensed as a cosmetologist in 2000. Currently living in Columbia, SC, employed by Lexington Medical Center as a Patient Access Representative with emphasis as a leader over my department.
For several years, there was pain, darkness, and emptiness in my life. Faced with bullying from others, depression, and suicidal attempts. Becoming a single parent to my son at an early age was not easy. At the age of four, my son lost his father due to a drug overdose. Not knowing not knowing how I was going to raise my son alone I became confused and lost. Because of this pain, my life began to spiral out of control. Lifewas like playing rushing roulette, not knowing, or caring about the consequences I may face. I eventually moved out of my mother's house, leaving my son behind in hopes of defeating the challenges I was dealing with and an attempt to get my life in order. As time passed, I became involved in toxic relationships, started seeing an increase in my weight, and eventually had a mental breakdown. Life for me was numb; I began to suffocate my pain with negative feelings and behaviors, not realizing the harm I was inflicting upon myself.
As time passed, I decided to return to my mother's house to live and become closer to my son. I later became involved in a promising relationship and moved to North Carolina with this gentleman. The union of this relationship brought forth the blessing of my daughter. The relationship with this gentleman became toxic leading to failed suicidal attempts. The relationship soon ended, and I returned to South Carolina.
After returning to South Carolina, I continued my career as a hairstylist, along being a counselor at my local church. As a counselor, I began to share the untold truths about my life, helping others to understand that everyone has a story to tell. By confessing the truth about my life, I have assisted others from committing suicide and removing themselves from toxic relationships. The ability to share my failures and triumphs with all sexes, races, and nationalities has allowed one to gain strength, courage, and realize no one has to face their challenges alone. There are others like them, and we stand together as one. We must seek God; pray harder; believe in ourselves; andsurround ourselves with positivity.
The sharing of my life obstacles and triumphs has led to the development of the "Eye Told You Movement," in which I am the founder and CEO. The Eye Told You Movement motto: In spite of the road traveled, see the road ahead. The Eye Told You Movement inspires one to the ability to change their current vision of themself to see a positive reflection that lies ahead. The Eye Told You Movement holds speaking seminars for individuals or groups to inspire any population never to give up. Since 2018, we host fashion shows that depict a story about everyday life situations. The fashion show represents how we are ordinary models of our life truths, and that it is okay to feel hurt, but it is essential for us not to become complacent with feeling hurt.
The goal for my life is to one day to become an author, a world-known motivational speaker, and the CEO of multiple businesses instilling positivity energy, self-love, and the ability for others to become successful at achieving their goals despite the history of their past. Because we are faced with everyday life struggles and uphold ourselves in the way society views us, I challenge YOU to set and achieve your goals regardless of your past. History should not be a repeat of itself but a way to achieve a positive future for oneself.
